CULTURE

Culture is the way of life for an entire society, encompassing arts, beliefs, and institutions passed down from generation to generation. This includes codes of manners, dress, language, religion, and rituals. Ashwini traverses multidimensional cultures and weaves them together in a contemporary context in the experiences she curates.
Curating Cultural experiences at Nizamuddin Dargah

Ashwini, alongside sufi exponent Rene Singh and art historian Seema Bhalla, meticulously curated and led a historical journey that began with the majestic 16th-century mausoleum of Mirza Aziz Kaklatash. The tour continued with visits to the Urs Mahal, the tomb of Mirza Ghalib, the Dargah (resting place of Hazrat Nizammudin and Amir Khusrau), and the nearby baoli, captivating all attendees. As the group wandered through the by-lanes of Nizammudin Basti, they shared captivating, unheard stories, enhancing the enriching experience. Additionally, they paid homage to the Sufi saint Nizamuddin Auliya, allowing participants to appreciate the relevance of Sufi music through mesmerizing qawwalis.

Nurturing the Living Heritage of Delhi
Ashwini has dedicated the majority of her adult life to Delhi, a city she fondly considers her home. Her deep appreciation for the city’s intricacies is evident in her active involvement in the accelerating heritage revival movement over the past few years. Ashwini has consistently demonstrated a fervent passion for promoting and celebrating the lively and diverse cultures that define Delhi. She curated and orchestrated a visit to Kathika Haveli, now transformed into the Kathika Cultural Centre. This cultural hub comprises meticulously restored twin 19th-century adjacent havelis situated in Imli Mohalla, Kucha Pati Ram Sita Ram Bazaar in Chandni Chowk. Through her efforts, members of the CII-Indian Women’s Network in Delhi had the opportunity to explore the city’s rich history and cultural traditions. At the Kathika Cultural Centre, participants engaged in an immersive experience, encountering interactive displays, multimedia exhibits, live demonstrations, and gaining firsthand experience of the living culture that thrives in this gem of Old Delhi. Ashwini’s curated experience provided a profound journey into the heart of the city, fostering a deeper connection with its heritage and traditions. Through initiatives like these, Ashwini continues to actively contribute to Delhi’s cultural landscape. Her steadfast commitment to the heritage revival movement not only safeguards the city’s historical legacy but also ensures that its vibrant living cultures are showcased and celebrated by present and future generations.
